Pictou County District RCMP monthly report

During the month of January, RCMP responded to a total of 451 occurrence­s. Investigat­ions of note include the following: SHOTS FIRED

On Jan. 3, police were called to a residence after receiving a complaint of shots fired from a vehicle into a Pictou County residence.

An investigat­ion revealed that several shots had been fired, striking the residence and a vehicle which was parked in the driveway.

No injuries occurred as a result of this incident, which is still under investigat­ion.

ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER

On Jan. 3, police responded to a complaint of a fraud and a youth failing to comply with court conditions.

A 17-year-old male was arrested and during the course of his arrest he resisted, assaulting two police officers.

He is facing a total of 10 charges, including two counts of assaulting a police officer, three counts of uttering threats, two counts of fraud and failing to comply with conditions.

IMPAIRED BY DRUG

On Jan. 19, police noticed a vehicle driving with an expired registrati­on sticker.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver showed signs of cannabis impairment.

The 61-year-old male driver was arrested and a subsequent blood sample was obtained. Pending the results of the sample, the driver faces potential charges of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug.

ROBBERY

On Jan. 21, police responded to a complaint of an armed robbery.

Police were advised by the victim that the suspect was armed with a knife and took a quantity of cash from the victim, who was in her vehicle.

Nobody was injured in this incident, which is still under investigat­ion.

IMPAIRED BY DRUG

On Jan. 27, police conducted a checkstop and encountere­d a driver who exhibited signs of cannabis impairment.

Further investigat­ion led to the arrest of the driver and the demand for a blood sample.

Pending the results of the blood sample, the 60-year-old male driver faces potential charges of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug.

ASSAULT

On Jan. 28, police responded to a complaint of a fight which had occurred between a 17-year-old male and an adult male.

The fight resulted in the youth suffering serious injuries to his head and face.

This incident is still under investigat­ion.
