Stellarton man charged with 21 counts of fraud
TRENTON, N.S. — A Stellarton man has been arrested and charged with 21 counts of fraud. The 31-year-old was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 11:50 a.m. These charges are in relation to fraudulent transactions at Casey Concrete in Trenton between Dec. 7, 2018, and Jan. 1, 2019.
The 31-year-old was released on conditions and will appear in provincial court in Pictou on April 8.
New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit continues to investigate.
Bruce Casey, who owns Casey Concrete, said the man who was charged was an employee of the company. The accused no longer works for Casey Concrete. Casey said they notified police around Jan. 2 after they discovered what they believed to be incidences of fraud.
He said they’ve been co-operating with police during the
investigation. He indicated that the amount of alleged fraud was significant.
