Kudos to Sobeys for all their kindness

One of the measures of a compassionate society is how well we treat the most vulnerable among us.

In that regard, I am writing to thank and recognize the employees of, and the entire Sobeys organization.

They granted, by way of employee voting, to the residents and staff of the Riverview Adult Residential Centre in Riverton, a Magical Wish. This program, funded by Sobeys, is one of their efforts to give back during the holiday season. We were honoured to be one of only six charities from across Canada to be selected.

Our wish was to create a Christmas Wonderland at the home through lighting of the building, decorations and, of course, a Christmas tree. This was highlighted by a tree-lighting ceremony. The residents and staff truly enjoyed these activities and the festive atmosphere that was created.

I wish to publicly acknowledge and thank the staff for their voting support and the Sobeys organization for this thoughtful initiative. We are a better and stronger community due to this support. On behalf of the residents, staff, CEO and the board, we thank you.
