Rolston String Quartet brings award-winning talents
Concert is set for Feb. 19 at deCoste centre
PICTOU, N.S. — The Rolston String Quartet comes to the deCoste Performing Arts Centre with one of the concerts they’re including on the second part of their extensive tour with Debut Atlantic.
Their performance is Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Described by the Toronto Star as belonging “to a generation of string players performing at a level difficult to imagine in generations past,” the Rolston String Quartet has stormed onto the international classical music scene as first-prize winner of the 12th Banff International String Quartet Competition.
They are the only ensemble to be featured on CBC’s 2016 list of “Hot Canadian Classical Musicians under 30” and have toured extensively through Germany, Italy, Austria, Canada, the United States and Israel. They recently had their debut performance at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in New York City.
The second part of their tour includes works by Haydn, Beethoven and Schafer. In addition to concert engagements, Rolston String Quartet will be working with young students and performing at schools throughout the region.
They will also take part in a webcast hosted by the Centre for Distance Learning and Education, which will be broadcast to schools throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and will be live streamed to the public on Feb. 19 at 11:30 a.m.
As part of the deCoste performance, students are being welcomed to see the performance for free. Tickets for the general public are $25 and $22 for deCoste Members.
