Peewee AAAs win pair of games

WESTVILLE ROAD, N.S. — In a Mainland hockey league game played on Saturday in Truro, the Pictou County Peewee AAA Crushers beat the Truro Bearcats 3-2. Scoring for the Crushers were Kaden Smith, Landon Steele and Levon Walst. Assists were recorded by Clint MacLaughlin, Cade Moser, Keagan Dalton, Lane Sim, Wyatt Spence and Amias Crossman. Alex Palmer played very well in goal and held off a third-period charge from the Bearcats.

On Sunday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre, the Crushers played an exhibition game against the East Hants Penguins, beating the Pens 6-4. Smith, Dalton and Walst each had two goals for Pictou County, while getting assists were Ben Marchand (2), Martin MacArthur, MacLaughlin, Steele, Kingsley Austin, Dalton, Owen Conrad and Walst. Jorja Burrows was solid between the pipes.

The Crushers next see action Feb. 16 when they host the Antigonish Bulldogs at the Hector Arena in Pictou, in a noon-time start. They play the Bulldogs again the next morning at 10 a.m. at Antigonish Arena.
