STELLARTON, N.S. — Staff at the Museum of Industry in Stellarton are inviting the community to spend March break with them. The theme of this year’s March break activities at the museum is the circus. Activities will go from March 16 to 24. There will be three rings of fun activity for families and children. Guests will have the opportunity to dress up as a lion tamer, ringmaster or clown. Visitors can also test their skill at midway games or drive a plasma car through a gokart course. “March break is always a busy time for us,” said Denise Taylor, marketing officer for the museum. “I enjoy when we see families come together or children come with their grandparents and just the sheer joy on their face about all the activities and fun things,” she said. “A lot of the stuff we do has some educational component to it, as well. The do come in and they enjoy the March break activities, but they also tour the galleries and there is a scavenger hunt that they have to go through.” There will be a variety of events held throughout the week. Magician Michael James will be on hand to perform amazing illusions and sleight of hand on Tuesday, March 19, and Wednesday, March 20, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. and from 2 to 2:30 p.m. each day. Also, from Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 22, Pictou County Gymnastics Club will be on hand from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. each day to lead “Centre Ring” where children can build their acrobatic skills with basic gymnastic activities. Another feature will be the funhouse which is built with mirrors and obstacles. For smaller kids there will be a quieter area set up with colouring tables and soft blocks.
