NEW GLASGOW, N.S. - New Glasgow’s Jubilee is adding more power to its star-studded lineup, with Canadian Walk of Fame’s Jully Black.

In a Feb. 4 release, the Jubilee said Black will perform before the event's first-ever female headliner, Serena Ryder.

Continuing to add to the music roster is Halifax’s Hillsburn and Pictou County’s Not Like Yesterday will play during the event's 25th anniversary.

"I think there's really something for everyone," said Janine Linthorne, festival co-chair.

"We were aiming for a really fun, really relatable lineup, and I think we really did put something in there for everybody."

Kicking off Friday night is First Nations performers Barn Breagh, featuring Keith Mullins, Morgan Toney, Isabella Samson and Jesse Cox. The group is comprised of talented singer-songwriters.

Keeping the energy going is singer-songwriter Reeny Smith will keep audiences entertained with her vocals, confident presence and energetic live show.

Friday night will come to a close with Joel Plasket opening for Grammy winners Glass Tiger.

Starting Saturday’s festivities is Not Like Yesterday is led by Lynn Decoste and Robyn Alcorn. Following Not Like Yesterday's performance, Hillburn will take the stage. The indie-pop foursome will lead an unforgettable energy-filled show.

One of Canada’s 25 best singers ever, Queen of R&B

Black, will continue the energy on Saturday night. She has taken home Juno and Gemini Awards.

She has earned many industry accolades and was handselected to sing for the Queen of England.

Both Ryder and Black are the perfect Canadian female artists for the 25th anniversary of the Jubilee, said organizers.

Sunday will start with Jud Gunning, who is dedicated to the craft of guitar playing. Gunning has been building a

repertoire of classic songs and tunes.

Following him is T. Thomason, who is the kind of musician that feels current and classic at the same time. Thomason’s arrangements are catchy and contemporary, but his voice is emotive and powerful.

Rounding out the 25th anniversary weekend will be Sloan and Tom Cochrane with Red Rider.

Linthorne said they're moving full steam ahead in anticipation of the festival

going as planned this year after two years of interruptions by COVID.

"All plans are where they should be at this point," she said. "Obviously, we're keeping a close eye on all things COVID, but hoping after these new lockdowns we're in the middle of, things will go back to normal and hopefully stay that way. I think everyone is hoping that."

Already fans have been purchasing tickets with preChristmas sale tickets quickly selling out and more purchases happening since.

"People are excited," Linthorne said.
