She will deliver a presentation titled, "Challenges and Opportunities with Nova Scotia's Waste Management" at 7 p.m. that can be heard in person or online via Zoom. The link can be found at havealittlefaith.ca.

Bremner grew up on a beef farm in Upper Falmouth and attended the NS Agricultural College (now Dalhousie Agricultural Campus). After completing a bachelor’s degree in environment sciences, she completed a master's degree in agriculture.

She worked for the NS Federation of Agriculture as an environmental farm plan coordinator for 15 years, before joining Divert NS as the programs and development officer in 2018.

In this role, she works with the solid waste regions to deliver solid waste education and enforcement programs as well as other like-minded organizations that work toward reducing and managing solid waste.

Her TUC talk will provide an overview of how Nova

Scotia manages solid waste and Divert NS' role in waste management and reduction. Bremner will discuss some of the current challenges Nova Scotia is facing with waste management, the solid waste research happening with the province and opportunities to improve waste diversion.

The presentation will also touch on our litter problem, tips and tricks to improve your individual waste management, as well as how we all can make an impact by refusing to waste.

Pictou County is home to two of Divert NS’ Mobius Award winners from 2021 – Janelle Clyke of Janelle's Upcycled and New Fashions in New Glasgow and Salt Springs 4H club.

This award recognizes organizations and individuals who go above and beyond to keep waste out of Nova Scotia landfills.

Clyke will introduce Bremner and a 4H club member will thank the speaker.
