Spring is in the air

Welcome back! As we navigate the many changes to the NS Public Health protocols, the library be resuming selected in-person programs at the library beginning with some programs for adults, such as the NFB film clubs, book clubs, and knitting/ crafting circles.

March also brings March Break fun for the whole family. From scavenger hunts to detective kits, galaxy jars and more! The Westville and Stellarton libraries will be offering St. Patrick’s Day scavenger hunts from March 15-19. All are welcome to drop by

, find some leprechaun gold and pick up a new, free children’s book from Adopta-Library Literacy Program. Wishing for warmer days, and looking for gardening inspiratio­n and tips to grow great vegetables and fruit at home? The library has lots of helpful books and magazines, free to borrow or download. Drop on by, we’re happy to help you find the reading resources you need.

Do you need help with accessing NS Virtual Care? Whether you need assistance with technology, a private space and computer access, or simply a WiFi connection, the library is happy to help.

If you live in Pictou County, are registered with NS Health's "Need A Family Doctor" list, and have received your invitation email to join Virtual Care NS, you can contact Samantha, our new virtual care navigator (virtualcar­e@parl.ns.ca, (902) 759-5227) for one-on-one assistance. In addition, the library’s Community Offices at the New Glasgow ((902) 7528233), Westville ((902) 3965022) and River John ((902) 351-2599) are equipped with accessible computers, and may be reserved for your virtual care meeting appointmen­ts.

in, for over 14 years with the library at our New Glasgow and Trenton libraries. She will be retiring at the end of March, and we wish her all the very best!

The Winter/Spring 2022 author presentati­on series continues on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. Pop in and join us for a cozy conversati­on. All these presentati­ons are held online via ZOOM webinar (with Closed Captioning (CC) available), and are also offered via teleconfer­ence by phone.

In March, we explore the beautiful “Waterfalls of Nova Scotia” in all seasons, with author, adventurer and photograph­er – Benoit Lalonde on Wednesday March 9, at 7 p.m. In April, Genevieve Graham, a favorite author with book clubs - joins us to share her latest heartwarmi­ng historical romance novel, “Bluebird” on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 p.m.
