The Niagara Falls Review

Casa D’oro era ends

-

It’s been a family tradition for 48 years, but Tony and Jimmy Roberto have decided to retire and close The Casa D’Oro Restaurant on Victoria Ave. in Niagara Falls.

On Oct. 31, many of their loyal customers dropped in for the last time to enjoy a drink or meal and to say good-bye to members of the Roberto family and their staff.

The business began in 1971, when the two brothers, Tony and Jimmy, decided to start the Casa D’Oro Dining Lounge. Their father, Thomas Roberto, joined his sons in 1972 after his retirement from the Norton Company.

The restaurant housed dining rooms and a nightclub/lounge known as Club Rialto. The specialities of the house were Italian fare, steak and lobster.

In 1982, Casa D’Oro won the Canadian Restaurant and Food Services Association’s highest national award for its inhouse promotion. The award was presented to the business by Miss Canada, Karen Baldwin.
