Three suffer serious injuries in rollover
A Fort Erie resident suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be extricated from a vehicle following a crash Monday night.
At 11:40 p.m. Niagara Regional Police, Niagara Emergency Medical Services and Niagara Falls Fire Services responded to the collision on Netherby Road near Crowland Avenue in Niagara Falls.
Initial police investigation revealed a 2009 Dodge Journey driven by a 42-year-old Fort Erie woman was eastbound on Netherby Road when the vehicle left the road and struck a hydro pole.
The Dodge continued across Crowland Avenue and into a farmer’s field where it rolled a number of times before coming to final rest right-side up.
The driver had to extricated from the vehicle and was flown to an out of town hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said in a media release.
There were two other passengers in the vehicle, a 39-year-old man from Port Colborne and a 23-year-old man from Welland.
These passengers suffered serious injuries and were transported to hospital by ambulance.
The area was closed to traffic for much of Tuesday morning.
This collision remains under investigation by detectives of the NRP collision reconstruction unit. Any witnesses with information regarding this collision are asked by police to contact investigators at 905-688-4111 ext. 5500.
