Three suffer serious injuries in rollover

A Fort Erie resident suffered life-threatenin­g injuries and had to be extricated from a vehicle following a crash Monday night.

At 11:40 p.m. Niagara Regional Police, Niagara Emergency Medical Services and Niagara Falls Fire Services responded to the collision on Netherby Road near Crowland Avenue in Niagara Falls.

Initial police investigat­ion revealed a 2009 Dodge Journey driven by a 42-year-old Fort Erie woman was eastbound on Netherby Road when the vehicle left the road and struck a hydro pole.

The Dodge continued across Crowland Avenue and into a farmer’s field where it rolled a number of times before coming to final rest right-side up.

The driver had to extricated from the vehicle and was flown to an out of town hospital with life-threatenin­g injuries, police said in a media release.

There were two other passengers in the vehicle, a 39-year-old man from Port Colborne and a 23-year-old man from Welland.

These passengers suffered serious injuries and were transporte­d to hospital by ambulance.

The area was closed to traffic for much of Tuesday morning.

This collision remains under investigat­ion by detectives of the NRP collision reconstruc­tion unit. Any witnesses with informatio­n regarding this collision are asked by police to contact investigat­ors at 905-688-4111 ext. 5500.
