Fireworks highlight holiday weekend
Established during the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Niagara Parks will celebrate the Victoria Day long weekend with a lineup of activities.
There will be fireworks over the illuminated falls Friday at 10 p.m., as well as on Sunday and Monday, weather permitting.
The Butterfly Conservatory on the Niagara Parkway will host a Wild Ontario Exhibit from Saturday to Monday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The exhibit features displays and live animal demonstrations by staff from Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo, while showcasing the wide variety of native species founding within Ontario’s unique ecosystems and natural habitats.
WildPlay’s new Whirlpool Adventure Course will be open Friday through Monday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The adventure course, which is located at Thompson Point on the Niagara Parkway, has been described as a playground in the air. It involves a series of suspended obstacles, wobbly bridges, mini zip lines, log ladders, rope swings and cargo nets through which guests can navigate at their own pace. There is also a kids course. There will be live entertainment at Grand View Marketplace on the Niagara Parkway from Friday through Monday between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Niagara Parks encourages those visiting its properties this holiday long weekend to consider purchasing the Niagara Falls Adventure Pass.
The pass includes admission to four attractions — Journey Behind the Falls, Niagara’s Fury, White Water Walk and Horn blower Niagara Cruises — with two days’ unlimited ridership on the WEGO bus transportation system and more than $100 in bonus coupons.
