Auto racing tracks renew radio contracts

-

Merrittville and New Humberstone speedways decided not to touch that dial as they prepare for their 67th and 59th season of racing to get underway.

The dirt tracks announced recently a renewal of a marketing, advertising and broadcast partnership with Raceline Radio Network.

Now in its 26th season on the air as a leading voice in Canadian motor sports, the Raceline Radio Network is heard regionally on News Talk 610 in St. Catharines. Raceline broadcasts, anchored by Erik Tomas, are heard heard Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 4 p.m.

“As we enter our 67th season, the partnership with Canada’s motorsport authority on CKTB Radio will carry on the legacy for year to come,” said Don Spiece, owner of the Thorold track.

“Fans and families these days have so many ways to spend their entertainment dollar, so it’s still very important to promote our shows,” Humberstone owner Linda Cosco said. “Raceline Radio on CKTB helps get the Humberstone message out to the region for us.”

Weather permitting, Merrittville’s season gets underway with a 7 p.m. show Saturday, while opening night at Humberstone is set for Sunday,

May 20. First race is 6:30 p.m. On 1 p.m. Sunday Humberstone hopes to make up a

Dawn of Destruction show that was cancelled due to inclement weather last weekend.
