RE: ALL THE CHAIR’S MEN: CASLIN GAVE D’ANGELO GOLDEN PARACHUTE, AUG. 27

I never thought that I would have to address our regional council in this fashion.

I did attend a meeting, when council was supposed to address us with a public explanation. But to my astonishment anything touching this subject was taken in camera.

We learned nothing about the why and how of this story. We need to thank Grant LaFleche and our local newspaper for keeping us updated. Our regional chair, Alan Caslin, has been doing an appalling job. This is so aggravating, being unable to hear directly from our chair. Mr. Caslin it would appear thinks he is answerable to nobody.

Then came more news we knew nothing about, and it appears neither did our regional council. The CAO has been given an extended contract and this was done without the full council being consulted. Every time we pick up The Standard there is another astonishing bit of information.

Also it would seem Mr. Caslin did not appear at a meeting most people would not miss. Even if I had a planned holiday I would set that aside so I could be at this meeting to defend myself.

There is no possible way that I would allow others to have their input without my presence.

There is just one more thing I feel the need to say. If you do not have a subscription for The Standard get one. This hometown paper has improved 100 per cent, you need it, especially in an election year. Margaret Grunfelder
