Input sought on Bay Beach playground

- RICHARD HUTTON

Fort Erie residents will have their say in what kind of equipment will be installed at a new playground at Bay Beach.

An information session will be held on Thursday, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Crystal Ridge branch of Fort Erie Public Library, 89 Ridge Rd. S. in Ridgeway.

Ron Bremner of the Ridgeway Lions Club projects committee, which has been working to raise $85,000 toward the project, said the group hopes to see many children at the meeting.

“We want the kids to give us information on what they want,” he said.

“We’ll have some sketches and the kids will be able to pick between them.”

The playground is part of $3million redevelopment at the beach, which will feature a complete redesign of the downtown area surrounding Bay Beach lands, including expanded parking options, residential developments, a pavilion, new sidewalks, a new park, and new washrooms and lockers.

The town’s request for proposal process on the design, supply and installation of equipment closed last Tuesday.
