Revving up for spring

Some sure signs that spring is just around the corner in Niagara: second-, third- and fourthguessing the groundhog, turning clocks ahead, shopping centre displays promoting dirt track racing. This week New Humberstone Speedway is giving shoppers at Seaway Mall in Welland an opportunity to get a close look at some of the cars and trucks that race at the Port Colborne track. Humberstone’s second mall display revving up for its 60th season takes place March 30 to April 6 at Pen Centre in St. Catharines. Weather and track conditions permitting, the 2019 season opens Sunday, April 28, with the Dawn of Destruction program. Racing officially starts the Victoria Day weekend, May 18 to 20, with NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader scheduled to compete on the track.
