The Mountain Road Band
was formed in November 2016. Musicians from varying backgrounds, that share a common love of traditional music, dance, song and prose. They met through the ceilí band of Comhaltas Hamilton, and play jigs, reels, polkas, waltzes, hornpipes and slow airs of Ireland, Scotland and Canada, with a little spoken word and song, too. They are lively and entertaining with a great repertoire and they simply gel when playing together. The band is named after one of their favourite “traditional” tunes, “The Mountain Road.” The Mountain Road band is available for all your entertainment events – sessions, weddings, ceilí dances, galas, house parties or intimate gatherings. The band also specializes in interactive dance performance with audience participation. Take a walk with them down the Mountain Road… you may just find yourself tapping your toes, clapping your hands, or, perhaps, getting up for a dance! Band includes the following musicians: Beth Beech – keyboard/fiddle/vocals Cathy Gibbon – Irish flute/tin whistle Ann Gorman-McKinney – bodhran/tin whistle Martin Gould – guitar/vocals
