IceDogs getting a free ride

First St. Catharines built an arena to keep the Niagara IceDogs.

Then St. Catharines found it had to contribute to the maintenance of the arena because it did not pay for itself.

Now St. Catharines is going to pay to get fans to and from the IceDogs’ games.

The City of St. Catharines and its planning staff should be forced to take an annual quiz on fiduciary duty along with some simple math.

The end result here is that the taxpayer has to support the Ice Dogs, whose owners are using all the tax benefits they can get. Bob Koruna St. Catharines
