Businesses targets of break-ins

Niagara Regional Police have made a number of arrests related to commercial break and enters in multiple municipali­ties. Police said on Thursday, John Lenik, 57, of Wainfleet, was charged in relation to a Fort Erie break and enter that occurred April 9, as well as possessing a stolen vehicle. Lenik was charged with break, enter and commit place other than a dwelling, possession of property obtained by crime more than $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order. Arlin Sapielak, 52, of St. Catharines, was charged in relation to a Thorold break and enter that occurred March 10, as well as possessing a stolen vehicle. Sapielak was charged with break, enter and commit place other than a dwelling, and possession of property obtained by crime more than $,5000. Since March, police have been investigat­ing a series of commercial break and enters throughout Niagara involving two male suspects using a stolen Dodge Caravan. Last Monday, officers charged Kevin Boutilier, 41, of Niagara Falls, with five counts of break, enter and commit place other than a dwelling, possession of property obtained by crime more than $5,000, six counts of mischief under $5,000, attempt break, enter and with intent place other than a dwelling, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order. The charges were in relation to 12 incidents in Fort Erie, Thorold, Niagara Falls and Welland. Officers located and seized the Dodge Caravan. Police said the van had been stolen from the Hamilton area March 3.
