Police make two arrests in Ridgeway shooting investigat­ion

Niagara Regional Police have arrested two people, aged 16 and 19, in connection to a shooting in downtown Ridgeway.

The person believed to be responsibl­e for pulling the trigger and critically injuring a 23-year-old man is 19-year-old Kia Pagan-Sandino, from Fort Erie, police said in an update Friday about the shooting that occurred Wednesday night around 11:45 on Ridge Road. He remains wanted by police. Cole Lochhead, 19, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and assault.

A 16-year-old female from Fort Erie who cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces the same charges. Both were held in custody and expected to appear in court on Friday, police said. Police are considerin­g this to be targeted incident. Detectives have identified Pagan-Sandino as the suspect who is “believed to be the shooter.”

He is described as white, five feet seven inches tall, 140 lbs., slender, with brown hair and brown eyes.

He is known to frequent the Fort Erie and Port Colborne areas, police said.

Pagan-Sandino is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, assault, pointing a firearm, discharge a firearm, unauthoriz­ed possession of a firearm, discharge a firearm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to prohibitio­n order, as well as fail to comply with a release order and a probation order.

He is “considered armed and dangerous” and police advise to “not approach” him.
