It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Mary. She was born March 2, 1936 in Heiloo, Holland. She was the beloved wife of Frank for 65 plus years. She is survived by her four children Margie (Bob), Noreen, Frank and Velma (Dave). Also survived by 12 grandchild­ren, Stephenie, Christina (Phil), Heather, Michelle (Ryan), Celeste, Carrie (Manuel), Randi (Lionel), Brandy, J.D., Johnathan, Dylan and Matthew. Also survived by 15 great-grandchild­ren Ezra, Arlo, Adam, Amber, Avery, Owen, Hunter, Tyler, Patrick, Rebecka, Lillian, Willow, Decklyn, Tegan and Tobias. Also survived by her brothers, Renee, Fred (Ruth), Jack and Bert (Joy). Sister-in-law Vroon and many, many nieces and nephews. Mary was predecease­d by her Parents Henderika and Gerardus Dekker, brother Matt (Nellie), Gerrit, John (Ann), Bill (Chris), sister-in-law Noreen and Linda her in-laws Margaret and Gerardus deRuyte, son-in-law Randy and grandsons Jason and Michael. Special thanks to all who cared for her over the years. Her family doctor, Dr. Bernard, her cancer team at Juravinski Cancer Centre, the team at Hospice Niagara, and her PSWs. A very special thank you for the love and support above and beyond their duty goes out to Sean and Evelyn our local EMS. She is no longer suffering with extreme pain. She will always be in our hearts, now and forever. The deRuyte family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 179 Clarence St, Port Colborne, on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 10 a.m. in the Armstrong Chapel. Rite of Committal to follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Wainfleet with a luncheon to follow at Wainfleet Fire Hall.
