Wendel is full measure against Bugsy’s Seagulls for Half Pints
Last week, we heard about Chris Lyttle’s exploits on the lanes as he works his way into shape for the upcoming provincial leg of the Canadian Open Championships.
This week, Tyler Wendel, another bowler who will be representing the Niagara men’s team, also seems to be heating up at the right time. Both Lyttle and Wendel also qualified for the singles portion of the tournament, so the two will be rolling a lot of games over the Easter weekend.
Wendel probably wishes the tournament was already underway as he connected for his best set of the Niagara Five Pin Mixed Pro League season, a blistering 940 (316, 246, 378), to lead the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints to a 3-0 pasting of Bugsy’s Seagulls.
He was pushed along by the rest of the team as Nathan Marr-Schoenfeldt backed him up with 734 (206, 286, 242), while Lindsay Richardson contributed 680 (2226, 270) and Brad Gaudreau added 651 (248, 208).
The Seagulls answered with Tim Dixon’s 699 (251, 258) and Kayla Ferguson’s 633 (222, 212).
In the evening’s closest match, a slugfest decided by 14 pins, the DJB Bean Counters eked out a 2-1 decision over Big Red’s Meatballs. Leading the way for the winners was Josh Robins, who rolled a consistent 825 (292, 266, 267), and Paul Asselin, with a 679 (220, 245).
The Meatballs returned fire with Jordan Gravelle’s 724 (223, 299, 202), Brad Maurice’s 700 (202, 248, 250) and Ryan Dixon’s 698 (258, 253).
In another tight one, this one decided by 25 pins, the Fiddle’s Pourhouse Fighting Irish scraped out a 2-1 win over BCAPMALL Productions.
Shawn Pellizari paced the winners with a 654 score (211, 274), while Payton Peters chipped in with 630 (210).
Answering for BCAPMALL was Dave Pendlebury, who rolled a solid 714 (284, 234).
Dr. Allison Zaruk’s Main Street Chiropractic knocked off the Accelerated Health & Wellness Aces, 2-1, as Vicky Robins took the reins for the winners, rolling her best set of the season, a fantastic 819 (303, 219, 297). Helping her along was Kile Robins with 740 (215, 259, 256) and Brian McFarlane with 702 (262, 224, 216).
The Aces replied with Bill Stockill, who came up sevens, tossing 777 (242, 247, 288), while Duke Brooks chimed in with 705 (288, 228) and Duran Size added 631 (221, 229).
D Fisher’s Legacy doubled the Upper Deck Strikers, 2-1, in the nightcap. P.J. Cole paced the Legacy team with 684 (244, 255), getting pushed by Rob Fisher’s 662 (232, 238).
The Strikers answered with Ryan Kulikowski’s 660 (223, 219) and Joe Thomas’s 643 (225, 231).
