Meteors garner five of 12 all-star selections

The team that finished the 2023-24 Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League regular season second in the Golden Horseshoe Conference was first in individual accomplish­ments.

With five of 12 all-star team selections, including three on the first team, the Fort Erie Meteors had the most representa­tives of the teams in the junior-B conference.

The St. Catharines Falcons and Caledonia Corvairs had three and two selections, respective­ly, while the Hamilton Kilty B’s and Port Colborne Sailors had one each.

Caledonia forward Jayden Lammel, who led the 23-team league in scoring with 23 goals and 59 assists for 82 points, was named to the first team.

He was joined by Fort Erie centre Kyle Adamo, 10th in the scoring race with 25 goals and 32 assists, and St. Catharines forward Caleb Thompson, whose 27 goals and 25 assists gave him 20th spot in league scoring.

Sami Douglas of the Corvairs, who picked up 22 goals and 28 assists, and Rylan Masterson of the Meteors, with six goals and 33 assists, were the defencemen who made the cut when the Golden Horseshoe’s first all-star team was selected.

Backing them up in goal is Charlie Burns, who recorded two shutouts and compiled a .2.46 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in 28 regular-season games for Fort Erie.

The all-rookie team from the net out includes the following: Hayden Jeffery, goalie, St. Catharines, 36 games, three shutouts, 2.49 GAA, .925 save percentage; Benjamin Radley, defence, Hamilton, four goals, 15 assists; Gabriel Trozzo, defence, Port Colborne, one goal, 19 assists; Liam Beamish, forward, Fort Erie, 27 goals, 29 assists; Hunter Coley, forward, Fort Erie, 22 goals, 20 assists; and Noah Read, centre, St. Catharines, 12 goals, 26 assists.
