Beamsville hotel project moving forward
Construction of the Hampton Inn by Hilton in Beamsville should be getting underway in about 14 months.
According to Jeff Cury, senior director of development for Hilton in Canada, groundbreaking for the hotel should take place in May 2025 and it should be open for business by August 2026.
After being delayed by COVID-19, as well as construction and supply chain issues, the hotel slated for a vacant 20,526-square-metre site at 4711 Ontario St., just south of the South Service Road, is “now actively moving again,” Cury said.
In July 2023, Lincoln town council approved a bylaw enabling the town to enter into a site plan agreement with the property owner/applicant for the construction of a five-storey, 100-room hotel that will include a swimming pool, fitness centre and meeting space.
Cury said the hotel company is looking to move into places like Lincoln, where some of the costs are cheaper than in the Greater Toronto Area.
“If you look at trying to build in the GTA versus anywhere outside the GTA, there is a significant difference in pricing, especially as it relates to land costs and development charges associated with the land,” Cury said.
He added the project will also bring some much-needed hotel rooms to Lincoln.
“There’s not a lot of hotels in the general area,” he said. “There’s enough demand today to at least satisfy 100 rooms and probably more going forward.”
Cury said the hotel will serve the growing business, tourism and recreation sector in the area and be handy for travellers using the GO station planned for the east side of Ontario Street, just north of South Service Road.
“The new hotel will be a welcome addition to the local business community and will help fill the much-needed accommodations gap in Lincoln for hotels,” said Liliana Busnello, manager of communications for the Town of Lincoln.
“The new hotel will encourage more overnight stays in Lincoln, which will increase visitor time and spend in Lincoln. The hotel will also create additional tourism and hospitality-related jobs in Lincoln, further strengthening the local economy.”
