Family had a great visit
Re: Not a million visitors, but crowds still flock to Niagara Falls to watch rare total solar eclipse, April 8
To all the people who live in, work in, protect and serve Niagara Falls, I felt I needed to write and let you know how incredible your city is.
My husband and I and five family members attended Niagara Falls from Saturday to Tuesday for the eclipse.
I don’t know when we have been so impressed. Your city is beautiful and probably the cleanest I’ve ever seen. I do remember years ago when Toronto was sort of like that.
All your staff and the people who live and work in Niagara Falls need to be complimented for the exceptional event hosted for all of us who flooded your city to see the total eclipse of the sun.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. For example, we attended the power station and tunnel. Staff there was most helpful when we had a glitch in our booking (our fault).
We enjoyed meeting the NASA engineer in the lecture hall and also enjoyed the live question-and-answer session with astronaut Jeremy Hansen in the park. Again, everything was flawless.
From our vantage point, we saw virtually no misbehaviour of any type from anybody.
We can only imagine the planning and work that went into hosting such a massive event. If there were any problems, we the public knew nothing of it.
On Tuesday morning after the crowds cleared, my grandson and I walked into the beautiful park across from the Sheraton Fallsview hotel.
It was empty. Not just of people, but also of any sign such a special and massive event had happened late in the afternoon before.
Thank you so much for being gracious hosts and allowing us to be your guests. We look forward to returning.
