If you drove through Port Dalhousie within the past week, you may have passed through a cloud of smoke emanating from the corner of Main and Elgin streets.

Some big scores came out of PlaMor Lanes as the Niagara Five Pin Mixed Pro League lit up the boards in the second-to-last week of the season.

Leading the way was Chris Lyttle, as he fired his season-best 935 (315, 339, 281) to spark the second-place Fiddler’s Pourhouse Fighting Irish to a 3-0 blanking of the league-leading Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints.

Lyttle had help from Shawn Pellizari, who rolled a solid 764 (283, 293).

Answering for the Half Pints were Tyler Wendel, with a 744 (306, 205, 233), and Brad Gaudreau, with a 681 (270, 206).

The win tightens the gap between the two teams, setting up a rematch in the league’s final night this week.

Chris Disher can breathe a tad easier as he appeared to be back in form, rolling a fantastic 842 (252, 287, 303) to lead BCAPMALL Productions to a 2-1 win over the Accelerated Health and Wellness Aces. Helping Disher along were Dave Pendlebury, with an 820 (276, 279, 265), and Jeff Stevens, with a 709 (273, 245).

The Aces shot back with Duran Size, who also breached the 800 threshold, settling in with an 807 (284, 229, 294). Bill Stockill wasn’t far behind with 785 (274, 319) and Duke Brooks checked in with 743 (344, 213).

The Big Red’s Meatballs also had two bowlers jump the 800 fence, and the team also broke the team benchmark of 3,000 for only the second time this season, rolling a 3,006 triple to hand the Bugsy’s Seagulls a 3-0 whitewashing.

Brad Maurice piloted the winners with a stellar 835 (285, 322, 228) while getting pushed by Chris Gravelle’s season-high 806 (304, 255, 247). Ryan Dixon chipped in with 693 (246, 258) and Jordan Gravelle with 672 (266).

The Seagulls replied with Kayla Ferguson at 718 (240, 227, 251) and Chris Ciolfi at 688 (293, 204).

The last bowler of the evening to break the 800 mark was Josh Robins, who tossed an awesome 805 (304, 217, 284) to pace the DJB Bean Counters to a 3-0 victory over D Fisher’s Legacy team. Also contributing to the win were Paul Asselin, with a 745 (272, 219, 254), and Jessica Gingras, with a 672 (262, 220). The Legacy squad answered with Mark Belanger’s 659 (261, 206) and Rob Fisher’s 630 (238, 217).

The nightcap featured the fourth sweep of the evening’s five matches as Dr. Allison Zaruk’s Main Street Chiropractic took all three games against the Upper Deck Strikers.

Brian McFarlane led the winners with 785 (271, 294, 220), while Vicky Robins had 778 (232, 272, 274) and her oldest son, Kile Robins, picked up a 711 (254, 226, 231).

The Strikers returned fire with Joe Thomas at 708 (247, 239, 222), Mike Owen at 701 (252, 235, 214) and David Michael at 640 (240, 217).
