Howard Jones, Asia, more ’80s coming to Fallsview Casino

- JOHN LAW REPORTER

The ’80s are invading Fallsview Casino with four new shows announced this week.

A triple-header of pop/new wave acts leads the charge when Howard Jones, ABC and Haircut One Hundred play the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino Aug. 30. Between them, the trio put out such classic ’80s gems as “The Look of Love,” Things Can Only Get Better” and “Love Plus One.”

On July 4, classic rockers Asia bring their “Heat of the Moment” tour to the OLG Stage, bringing along prog rock friends Curved Air and Focus, Martin & Curved.

Asia was formed from the members of Yes, Uriah Heep and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Their 1982 debut was the biggest-selling album of the year and includes staples “Heat of the Moment” and “Only Time Will Tell.”

Geoff Downes is the only original member left for the band’s new tour.

Some ’80s hair metal returns on Oct. 12 when Poison singer Brett Michaels makes his return to the OLG Stage after a sold-out show last March. In addition to his classic hits with Poison (“Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” “Nothin’ But a Good Time”), Michaels found even bigger success as the star of the VH1 reality series “Rock of Love” from 2007 to 2009.

Also making her return to Fallsview will be comedian Chelsea Handler July 27. The outspoken TV host, bestselling author and fierce critic of Donald Trump was one of the first acts booked for the 5,000seat theatre in 2020 before it was shut down by the pandemic. She performed at the casino’s Avalon Theatre in 2022.

Tickets for all four shows are on sale at ticketmaster.ca.
