Sar­nia pe­di­a­tri­cian charged with in­de­cent as­sault on teen

A Sar­nia pe­di­a­tri­cian has been charged with sex­u­ally as­sault­ing a teenage pa­tient in 1982, Sar­nia po­lice said.

Kun­war Singh, 76, was charged Thurs­day when he re­ported to po­lice head­quar­ters, po­lice said.

Singh is ac­cused of in­de­cently as­sault­ing a 15-year-old fe­male pa­tient when he was as­sess­ing her at his of­fice, po­lice said.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion that led to the charge be­gan in Oc­to­ber, po­lice said.

Singh is sched­uled to ap­pear in court Jan. 8.

Singh is re­stricted by the Col­lege of Physi­cians and Sur­geons of On­tario to see­ing only chil­dren af­ter a se­ries of sex­ual as­sault con­vic­tions in 1991. He was sus­pended at that time from prac­tis­ing medicine.

He was later re­in­stated with re­stric­tions.
