Fly­ers lose to Lak­ers

The pre­vi­ously win­less Wal­lace­burg Lak­ers beat the Petro­lia Fly­ers 4-2 on Thursday in the Pro­vin­cial Ju­nior Hockey League's Stobbs Di­vi­sion. Zach VanEyk and Wil O'Leary Dilosa scored for the eighth-place Fly­ers (7-22-0-3) in front of 250 fans at the Greenwood Recre­ation Cen­tre in Petro­lia.

The Fly­ers would have clinched a play­off berth with a reg­u­la­tion win. Fly­ers goalie Josh Lo­r­anger made 20 saves. Pa­trick Tim­pany of the Lak­ers made 26.

Myles Fraser of the Lak­ers broke a 2-2 tie at 15:07 of the sec­ond pe­riod. Cody Ni­co­laisen added an emp­tynet­ter in the third.

Jeff Wil­liams and Cam Wheeler also scored for the Lak­ers (1-29-0-2), who are 13 points be­hind the Fly­ers.
