Man charged with in­ter­net lur­ing, child porn

A 31-year-old Clarenville man has been charged with a dozen chil­dren lur­ing and child pornog­ra­phy charges.

Gary Lock­yer made a brief ap­pear­ance in provin­cial court in St. John’s Feb. 14 and was granted bail with strict con­di­tions af­ter reap­pear­ing be­fore a judge the fol­low­ing morn­ing.

Lock­yer faces 12 charges — five counts of lur­ing a child un­der 16, two counts each of at­tempted ex­po­sure, lur­ing a child un­der 18 and mak­ing ar­range­ments to com­mit a sex­ual of­fence against a child, and a sin­gle count of mak­ing child pornog­ra­phy.

He’s due back in court March 28.

Lock­yer was ar­rested in St. John’s by the Com­bined Forces Spe­cial En­force­ment Unit of New­found­land and Labrador last week in re­la­tion to an in­ter­net child lur­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion, which be­gan Feb. 3.

In a news re­lease, the RCMP stated they’re en­cour­ag­ing youth to be cau­tious of whom they com­mu­ni­cate with and what they share on­line.
