Clarenville com­mu­nity to rec­og­nize Men­tal Health Week

Com­mu­nity light­ing and rib­bon­ty­ing planned for Men­tal Health Week in Clarenville.

Be­gin­ning on Mon­day, May 7, Clarenville will glow green in recog­ni­tion of men­tal health aware­ness.

Co­in­cid­ing with Men­tal Health Week, the Town of Clarenville, Eastern Health and the Cana­dian Men­tal Health As­so­ci­a­tion NL are en­cour­ag­ing busi­nesses, or­ga­ni­za­tions and pri­vate res­i­dents to shine a green light, and tie a green rib­bon.

The group is pro­mot­ing the ini­tia­tive to shine the colour green and hang green rib­bons on trees, door­ways and in busi­nesses, re­mark­ing, “Shine a light or tie a rib­bon where peo­ple can see, sup­port men­tal health for you and me.”

There are about 2,000 rib­bons avail­able, pre­pared by peo­ple at the Cor­rec­tional Cen­tre for Women. The rib­bons will be dis­trib­uted to lo­cal schools, busi­nesses and the town hall.
