Light up for mental health
Clarenville community to recognize Mental Health Week
Community lighting and ribbontying planned for Mental Health Week in Clarenville.
Beginning on Monday, May 7, Clarenville will glow green in recognition of mental health awareness.
Coinciding with Mental Health Week, the Town of Clarenville, Eastern Health and the Canadian Mental Health Association NL are encouraging businesses, organizations and private residents to shine a green light, and tie a green ribbon.
The group is promoting the initiative to shine the colour green and hang green ribbons on trees, doorways and in businesses, remarking, “Shine a light or tie a ribbon where people can see, support mental health for you and me.”
There are about 2,000 ribbons available, prepared by people at the Correctional Centre for Women. The ribbons will be distributed to local schools, businesses and the town hall.
Mental Health Week runs from May 7-13. For further information contact Deanna Burns (427-3927) or Adam Wiseman (427-6659).
