While the renovated Elizabeth Swan Park was originally scheduled to have a grand reopening in August, the event has been officially postponed to next year.

At Clarenville’s town council meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 28., Recreation and Community Development committee chairman Coun. Rod Nicholl said they decided the reopening should be tied in with official Canada Day celebrations next year on July 1, 2019.

“As we have discussed, having the event earlier may have been a little over-the-top in terms of trying to coordinate both things,” said Nicholl at the council meeting. “One date the committee does feel is the way to go.”

The committee recommended to contact officials as soon as possible with the new plans for the opening date.
