Sky is the limit for White Hills as con­cert site

From atop White Hills, rollin’ is to be ex­pected, but rockin’—not so much.Alpine De­vel­op­ment Al­liance Cor­po­ra­tion, op­er­a­tors of the White Hills Ski Re­sort, have been map­ping out devel­op­ments at the top since 2000.There’s a golf course in the works and the ball doesn’t stop there.The board is also work­ing on an ap­pli­ca­tion for ACOA fund­ing re­gard­ing win­ter tourism. In­cluded in that same re­quest is a pro­posal to pre­pare the hill to be­come a con­cert venue.Deputy Mayor Lisa Browne, in charge of Clarenville’s win­ter tourism de­vel­op­ment, says they’re still in the be­gin­ning stages of the strat­egy.“We have spo­ken to all the as­so­ci­a­tions we need to, and there are a lot of them, and we have a con­sul­tant hired who’s work­ing on the pro­posal.” White Hills Ski Re­sort in 2008.White Hills fills a huge space in the town’s win­ter tourism vi­sion, but the cor­po­ra­tion is hop­ing to develop its sum­mer tourism as­sets as well.The de­vel­op­ment of a po­ten­tial con­cert site stands among many other new devel­op­ments on the hill, such as a snow­mo­bile park­ing lot and an on/off ramp.The snow­mo­bile de­vel­op­ment plan is aim­ing for com­ple­tion this com­ing win­ter, while the prod­uct de­vel­op­ment for con­cert readi­ness aims to start work in the spring of 2009.
