The undertaking for an environmental assessment of a new marina in Port Blandford has been registered.

In a press release issued by the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment, the Port Blandford Marina Development proposal was listed by proponent, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours branch.

The proposal is to construct a new wharf, concrete launchway, and a 163 metre breakwater at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Small Craft Harbours facility in Port Blandford.

According to the release, the project will involve dredging of the harbour basin with an approximate footprint of 4540 square metres. The project is expected to provide improved launch facilities and wharf infrastructure, and necessary protection for marina infrastructure at the facility.

The undertaking was registered on Oct. 23, and the deadline for public comments is Nov. 29.

The minister’s decision is due by Dec. 7.
