Best reaches silver anniversary

The Packet (Clarenville) - - Editorial -

Twenty- five years is a long time to be doing anything. Just ask Mayor Fred Best.

Best was recently honored by the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Municipalities (NLFM) for his 25 years of service in municipal government. For most of that time, 21 years, he has been with Clarenville. He has been mayor of the town since 1982. The other four years were spent in Wesleyville. Best was philosophical when asked if he’s enjoyed the last 25 years.

“I’ve had a lot of good times, but a lot of difficult ones too as far as municipal government is concerned because there are problems to which there are no easy solutions,” Best said.87
