Community raising funds for Bonavista family that lost home in November fire
Many ways to donate to cause
When Kimberly Dawn heard about a garage fire back home in Bonavista, she didn’t think much of it at first.
It wasn’t until later that day that Dawn, who moved to Alberta after finishing high school, heard the devastating news that high winds had spread the fire from the garage onto his sister Tonya Cole’s home.
Both buildings were ruined. “It was shocking,” Dawn remembers.
Since the Nov. 15 fire, family members have organized many ways for people to donate to the cause.
Most of the information can be found on the Facebook Page The Cole Family Fire Relief fund, managed by Dawn.
Monies can be sent directly to donationsforthecolefam[email protected] gmail.com, or can be deposited to The Cole Family Fire Relief Fund Scotiabank account, account number 40543 04122 87.
Donations can also be made to the relief fund’s GoFundeMe Page (https://www.gofundme. com/the-cole-family-fire-relieffund?fbclid=IwAR2pKhKueVYB vvbAvAUDIRdauCBUzPhzqVx7 RatFcDSpSA58c7wr_DoDWNM ).
Benefit dances are also in the works.
“We have been overwhelmed with all the kindness, love and support during this time and we are very proud to be living in such a caring community. Special thanks to all the fire departments that did an amazing job. Thank you to everyone,” said Tonya on behalf of the family. The home was not insured. Dawn says about $500 has been raised for Tonya, her husband Michael, and their 14-year-old daughter Mikayla thus far, in addition to donated items and appliances.
