Clarenville Scouts spread holiday cheer through mummering
The Clarenville Scouts and leaders were busy on Monday, Dec. 17, as they gathered their silliest garb and proceeded to head out to various homes in Clarenville and Shoal Harbour to spread some Christmas cheer.
The Scouts, transported by the local CREST bus, went to eight homes in the area as mummers danced and entertained.
The longstanding Newfoundland tradition was a surprise to many of the residents—taking in the handful of brightly coloured mummers while the classic Mummer’s Song played.
With the assistance of the CREST bus, the Clarenville Scouts assembled to mummer again this year leading up to Christmas. The mummering Scouts on Dec. 17 in Shoal Harbour.
These mummers definitely needed some warm boats to wear.
The mummering tradition remains a strong one in Newfoundland and Labrador.
There were enough mummers on hand to fill this small patio.
