The Clarenville Cari­bous swept a pair of con­tests from the North­east Ea­gles as pro­vin­cial se­nior hockey re­sumed its sched­ule over the week­end fol­low­ing the Christ­mas break.

The Cari­bous got two goals from Brad Crann to beat the Ea­gles 6-2 Sun­day, Jan. 6 at the Eastlink Events Cen­tre in Clarenville. Satur­day, the home­s­tand­ing Cari­bous got goals from seven dif­fer­ent play­ers - Crann, Keith De­laney, Dustin Flight, Mike Dyke, Ma­son Reid, Dustin Rus­sell and Ken Ma­honey - to beat North­east 7-3. Mike Hal­itzki, Justin David and Paul Cuff replied. Af­ter eight games, the Cari­bous have six wins, an over­time loss and a reg­u­la­tion loss. Its 13 points are good enough for se­cond in the east divi­sion and fourth over­all in the New­found­land Se­nior Hockey League. The Cari­bous are sched­uled to play on home ice this com­ing week­end for a pair of games against the St. John’s Caps. Game time at the Eastlink Events Cen­tre is 7:30 p.m. Satur­day and 2 p.m. Sun­day.
