Barnardo Park wading pool up and running after repairs

The

Barnardo Park wading pool is now open for the season, joining the city’s other wading pools after a delayed opening due to a necessary pipe repair.

Suitable for children up to eight years of age, these shallow pools operated by the city’s Recreation Division and supervised by staff trained in aquatic emergencie­s, operate seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. There is no cost to use them.

Barnardo Park can be accessed from Northminst­er Ave. off Sunset Blvd. or from Barnardo Ave. There is parking in the lot by the tennis courts off Barnardo Avenue; the pool is a short walk across the grass.

Parents or guardians should note that children should not be left alone at the pool without adult supervisio­n; the pool program is not intended to be a babysittin­g service.

The session runs Monday, July 29 from 5 until 8 p.m. The course is limited to 20 participan­ts per session, with a maximum of two people per canoe. Those under 16 years of age must be accompanie­d by a parent or guardian 18 years or over. The cost is $20 for non-members and pre-registrati­on is required at least two days prior to the course.
