Barnardo Park wading pool up and running after repairs
The
Barnardo Park wading pool is now open for the season, joining the city’s other wading pools after a delayed opening due to a necessary pipe repair.
Suitable for children up to eight years of age, these shallow pools operated by the city’s Recreation Division and supervised by staff trained in aquatic emergencies, operate seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. There is no cost to use them.
Barnardo Park can be accessed from Northminster Ave. off Sunset Blvd. or from Barnardo Ave. There is parking in the lot by the tennis courts off Barnardo Avenue; the pool is a short walk across the grass.
Parents or guardians should note that children should not be left alone at the pool without adult supervision; the pool program is not intended to be a babysitting service.

The session runs Monday, July 29 from 5 until 8 p.m. The course is limited to 20 participants per session, with a maximum of two people per canoe. Those under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years or over. The cost is $20 for non-members and pre-registration is required at least two days prior to the course.
