HOSPICE SUPPORT
If you haven’t got your hanging baskets and planters out this summer or if you just want to spruce up your deck or garden it’s definitely worth a drive to Horlings Garden Centre where you can purchase what you need at reduced prices while also supporting Hospice Peterborough.
Here’s the deal. You can get 25% off the price of all hanging baskets and planters and Horlings will make a $5-10 donation to Hospice Peterborough or you can get 10 percent off all hydrangeas and they will donate $10, or you can get 25 percent off all shade trees and the donation would be $20.
It’s a win-win situation for gardeners and Hospice Peterborough which supports people in our community living with serious illness and grief.
The sale runs until July 29. Horlings Garden Centre is located at 3056 Lakefield Highway Rd. (Highway 29) and is open seven days a week; Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information call 705-652-7979. The event begins with lunch at noon, followed by the concert and dancing to the tunes of the Cool Dixies, a Dixieland band, playing old favourites. The cost is $15 per person for lunch and concert or $5 at the door for just the concert. Tickets cost $15 each or two for $20 and are available at the Red Dog or by calling Phil at 289-251-7445. The comedy performances will be followed by live music.
All profits raised will go to the A.B.I. (Anti-Bullying Initiative) Program for student scholarships. Desserts for Diabetes Tea: Monday, July 29 at 2 p.m. at Peterborough Manor, 1039 Water St. Includes presentation by Canadian Diabetes Association and samples of diabetic desserts.
