Heading into Thursday night’s regular-season-ending encounter, Shawn Evans led the Lakers in scoring with 78 points on 23 goals and 55 assists while Curtis Dickson was tops in goals with 36. Evan Kirk led in GAA with 7.35.

Evans needed 13 points to win the MSL scoring title but fell one shy of Six Nations’ Dhane Smith, finishing with 29 goals and 60 assists for 89 points. Evans did have the most assists.

NOT BRAMPTON

You would think Peterborough would have preferred playing anyone but Brampton when it came to playoffs.

The Lakers have not fared well against the Excelsiors in such a forum over the years.

In the previous seven playoffs, going back to 2008, Peterborough has dropped three of four series to Brampton.

The Lakers lost in the seventh game in 2008, a year in which John Grant Jr. ended up in hospital with an infection from an injury he sustained playing field lacrosse.

Peterborough lost to Brampton in the final in six games the following season, got back on the winning side in the final a year later, when they won a Mann Cup, then lost to Brampton again in the final in 2011. Brampton went on to win the cup.

HELPED COURTNEY

The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers partnered with Courtney’s Legacy Fund to raise funds for those dealing with cancer.

Tickets were sold in the lobby for two Murray Henderson framed prints, an autographed Lacrosse Greats and a 2004 Mann Cup print during the regular season. The draw was made during the third period last night.

NOT IN

Not in the Lakers lineup were Chad Tutton, Chad Culp, Pete Rennie, Josh Currier, Rory Glaves, Eric Shewell and Cole Murray. Glaves has a new job and works a night shift. He won’t be able to play the rest of season as he didn’t have his six games in to make playoffs in by missing Thursday’s game.

ATTENDANCE

The attendance was announced at 3.035.
