- EXAMINER STAFF -- with files from Jason Bain, Examiner Staff

A 23-year-old Scarborough man injured in an apparent stabbing on Tuesday afternoon is now facing drug charges, city police said Wednesday afternoon.

The investigation of the attack resulted in Jordan Rose, 23, of Scarborough, being charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of MDMA methamphetamine pills for the purpose of trafficking.

Rose appeared in bail court Wednesday on the charges.

City police did not release Rose’s name to the public because they consider Rose “a victim.”

Rose was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of injuries following the incident at an upper-level apartment in a building on the northwest corner of Water and London streets early Tuesday afternoon and had remained in hospital Wednesday morning before being released from hospital.

Rose showed up injured at the nearby city police station at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday after an altercation with an unknown person or persons, police said.

Paramedics then took Rose to the hospital.

Police said Wednesday they are continuing the investigation and are asking anyone with information to call city police at 705-8761122 ext. 225 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or online at www.stopcrimehere.ca.

On Tuesday afternoon, police officers could be seen in the area of Water and London streets canvassing for possible witnesses and also darting in and out of the third-floor apartment, the stairway to which was cordoned off with yellow police tape. Plainclothed detectives and forensic identification officers with cameras in their hand could also be seen at the scene.

Citizens in the area indicated that Rose was injured in a drugrelated stabbing, but that information has yet to be confirmed by police.
