First Responders Cup open to public to watch on March 11
A fitness challenge in support of mental health will put students in Fleming College’s first responder programs to the test March 11.
The First Responders Cup is an eight-hour competition that’ll have teams fighting for the best time in eight physical challenges.
The event is a fundraiser for the local Canadian Mental Health Association.
It’s open to college students in pre-service firefighter, paramedic, police foundations and customs border services.
The cost per team is $300, which can be raised through pledges or fundraising, and teams are encouraged to raise more than the entry free. Awards will be given to the top fundraising team.
Teams of six will have their times recorded throughout the challenges and the faster they’re completed, the more recovery time they’ll have between challenges.
The team that finishes all eight challenges with the best time wins the cup. There’ll also be awards for the team with the best time in each challenge.
The First Responders Cup is happening at the Peterborough Sports and Wellness Centre from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s open to public viewership and includes a raffle draw.
