Easter Seals Telethon

The 2017 annual Easter Seals Telethon will be broadcast live on Sunday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. airing on CHEX TV and TVCogeco.

For 45 years the Telethon has been entertaining and informing viewers while raising essential funds for children and youth with physical disabilities as part of the annual fundraising and awareness campaign. All money raised stays in the local area.

“Our two main goals this year are helping families better afford mobility assistant devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, and lifts,” says Coralie Jacobs, Senior Development Officer. “The second, and more fun item, is sending kids to fully accessible camp which costs $2,500 for a 10-day session.”

This year’s goal is $80,000 and during the broadcast there will be live interviews, along with visits by Easter Seals families and guests including MPP Jeff Leal, Terry Guiel, Carol Oake and representatives from Unifor. This year’s ambassador is Kaydance Lane, 8 years old, in Grade 3, who loves horseback riding, skiing, and watching hockey and baseball.

Donations can be made anytime at www.eastersealstelethon.org/peterborough, or you can make a pledge during the Telethon on April 9.
