New adventures ahead for longtime village volunteer

- MARLYS KERKMAN kerkmam@gmail.com

Jean Smith Buchanan has been a model volunteer in this village. The local market and Community Care Harvey have been the recipient of a great deal of Jean’s efforts.

The Community Care bake sale and garage sale have been strongly supported by Jean. She was a founding member of the local community market.

Jean has recently retired from her position of Community Care Admin Support which she held since September of 2015. From 2007-2013 she was a volunteer for admin. She has been a volunteer driver as well. There was recently a thank you party for her at the Community Care Harvey offices complete with cake and ice cream to express gratitude for her years of service.

Jean has a new family. With her recent marriage to Richard Buchanan she has gained new stepchildren and step randchildren so it is time to do new things. She and Richard will be cruising from one Canadian coast to another through the Panama Canal.

The village is grateful for her work.

Mayor’s Message

In a spring message by the mayor of Trent Lakes, Bev Matthews sees spring as a time to review what work has been done and to look at what needs doing just as we may look at our gardens. She sees the clear garbage bag policy as an important change generating 51 tonnes less garbage. She sees the bridge in Buckhorn as a great improvement. The Community Improvement Plan will be continuing. Go to http://www.trentlakes.ca/council/message-from-the-mayor/ for the entire message.
