Jones named CEO of Peterborough library
JenniferJoneshasbeenappointed by the Peterborough Library Board as the library’s chief executive officer, effective Monday.
Jones has been acting library manager/CEO since June, after serving as head librarian.
She had been filling the role after Jennifer Zoethout left the post 1 1/2 years into her term.
“In her acting role, Jenn has clearly demonstrated her ability to manage multiple issues at once,” stated library board chairman Paul Stern.
“The board is happy to have her stabilizing influence on a permanent basis as we lead up to our return to the newly renovated library.”
The main Peterborough Public Library branch on Aylmer Street has been undergoing a $12-million renovation and expansion. The library has been temporarily operating out of space at the Peterborough Square downtown since May. The work was supposed to be completed by this May, but complications have resulted in the makeover now not likely being completed until the fall.
“I am pleased with the Peterborough Library Board’s appointment of Jennifer Jones as CEO,” city CAO Allan Seabrooke stated.
“Jennifer’s commitment to superior customer service and community relationship building will serve our City well as we move forward in our exciting newly renovated facility later this year.”
The library board now plans to recruit a new head librarian to replace Jones, according to a release from the city.
