Federal $100K grant to create 35 jobs in Peterborough
A $100,000 grant announced Friday will help create 35 jobs at a Peterborough manufacturer.
The Eastern Ontario Development Program grant was announced at the Fisher Dr. headquarters of Pan-Oston Ltd. in Peterborough, where retail fixtures, counters and office furniture is manufactured.
The funds were announced by Peterborough-Kawartha MP Maryam Monsef and representatives of the Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation.
“This is great news for PanOston, who have been leading the way with innovative and collaborative projects that will have a positive impact right across Eastern Ontario, as well as for Peterborough-Kawartha, which stands to benefit from this business expansion,” stated Monsef in a release. “Our government is deeply committed to growing the economy and supporting manufacturing. It is through initiatives like the Eastern Ontario Development Program that we will continue to work on these important priorities.”
Also on hand were local elected officials, including Selwyn Mayor Mary Smith, who is also the deputy county warden, Coun. Keith Riel and executives from Pan-Osten, including president Greg Butler and Glen Bonner, vice-president of sales and marketing.
Pan-Oston will use the funds to create up to 35 new full-time positions and to develop a new network of manufacturers in the area aimed at attracting clients to the Peterborough area by highlighting the variety of available products and services, a press release states.
“We applaud Pan-Oston on thinking outside the box on the launch of this innovative product bundle approach,” stated Wendy Curtis, executive director of the Northumberland CFDC.
