City police were called to a Rutherford Ave. home Tuesday night to deal with a report of a disturbance involving several people. The arriving officers saw people leaving the home and getting into a vehicle; one person appeared to be carrying a baseball bat, police say. The driver spotted police, then got out and fled on foot through the backyard of a Wolfe St. home where he was caught and held by a neighbour. Police say he had a baseball bat and replica pellet gun in his possession. Ryan Robert Sutton, 30, of Cadillac Blvd., Omemee, was charged possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (baseball bat), trespassing at night and failing to comply with a probation order. He was taken to hospital by paramedics for treatment of injuries he allegedly received during the initial incident in the house, then taken into custody and was to appear in court Wednesday. Meanwhile, police also found a woman wanted on a warrant at the Rutherford Ave. home. A warrant was issued May 25 for Alyssa Garnett, 28, of Parkhill Rd., for fraud under $5,000. Police were called after a person alleged that she lent another person a debit card, and later discovered fraudulent deposits and withdrawals. Garnett was released and will appear in court July 6.
