Sedore gets hat trick in minor midget win
Beau Marshall of the Peterborough Ricky’s All Day Grill/ Berardi Bros. Plumbing Minor Rookie Tigers has been named 2017 Eastern Ontario Baseball Association junior player of the year.
The award is given each year to one player in the divisions up to peewee who demonstrates extraordinary on-field skills along with leadership, dedication and commitment to their team, according to the a release from the Peterborough Baseball Association.
“What an incredible honour to coach such an amazing young man,” stated one of his coaches Noah Crowley.
The award is chosen by the EOBA awards committee and executive each September.
Marshall was the shortstop and leader of his Minor Rookie Peterborough Tigers AAA team (ages 7 and 8) this past season.
He helped lead his team to a perfect 22-0 regular season record, 10-0 tournament record (including two championships), a 4-0 playoff record, an EOBA league championship and a third-place finish at the Minor Rookie AAA OBA Tournament.
Marshall is a standout for acrobatic throws, diving catches and fearless attitude on the field, according to the release.

Marshall also stands out for his professional demeanor, positive attitude and team first philosophy, congratulating his teammates for great plays or clutch hits.
He also earned high praise from opponents.
“Beau demonstrated the skills and poise that you hope to see in every ball player,” stated Mark Bondy, coach of the AAA Minor Rookie Ontario Champion North York Blues.
“He was a true leader on his team and his defensive range, soft hands and strong arm made him an outstanding shortstop for his team. On a number of occasions during our games against each other, the words ‘are you kidding me!’ came out of my mouth after yet another amazing play was made by Beau.
“At the plate, Beau was always a threat, forcing our players to always be on their toes to track down the next line drive or hard smash off his bat. In short, having played over 40 games this year against some of the top competition in Ontario, Beau’s skills and abilities definitely stand out above the rest. We look forward to competing against Beau and his team for years to come!” The Peterborough Foley Bus Lines minor midget AAA Petes opened their ETA regular season with an 11-1 win over the Oshawa Generals Saturday night at the Evinrude Centre. The Petes enter the season as the fifth-ranked team in the OMHA Power Rankings. Noah Sedore scored three goals and an assist, Nolan Burke two goals and two assists, Boyd Stahlbaum two goals, Avery Cook a goal and two assists, Austin Pearce and Will Everson a goal and assist and Logan Maunder also scored. Luc Reeve had four assists, Ethan Curtis three with two each to Gabe Lemiire, Ben Lukinuk and Tyler Deline. Next action is at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Evinrude versus the North Central Predators.
