The city is letting the public buy the lumber that has been reclaimed from city ash trees that have been affected by the emerald ash borer.

The lumber will be on sale Wednesday and Thursday, while supplies last, according to a release from the city.

The lumber can be bought from the city’s Waste Water Treatment Facility at 425 Kennedy Rd. in the city’s southeast end.

The sale will take place between 2 and 6 p.m. both days at Building 25, which is the first right when entering the facility.

The sawmilled and partly seasoned boards are available in various widths and lengths but generally are about 8 feet long and 6-12 inches wide, the release states.

The boards are priced based on thickness; 1 inch thick costs $7 each and 2 inch thick boards cost $15 each.

All lumber is of varying quality and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, the release states.

The wood cannot be reserved in advance of the sale, the release states, and buyers will be responsible for loading all purchases into their own vehicles and removing the wood at the time of the sale.

The city’s urban forestry management division conducted a similar sale a year ago from the city’s trees affected by emerald ash borer that were cut down last year.

The city launched a 10-year plan in 2013 to address the impact of emerald ash borer after it reached Peterborough. A Peterborough cleantech start-up company has become a publicly traded company. Rainmaker Worldwide Inc. began trading last month as a NASDAQ over-the-counter stock under the stock trading symbol RAKR. It’s the first time an investment by the Peterborough Region Angel Network has gone public. PRAN has invested $2.5 million in the company. Peterborough area residents Michael O’Connor, chairman and chief executive officer, and Michael Skinner, chief strategy officer, are giving 10,000 of the company’s shares to the Innovation Cluster.
